【摘要】讨论了中古开口韵在客家方言中的演变特点，对客家话中反映汉语早期语音现象的“鱼。虞”有别、“支与脂之”有别等问题结合汉语语音的历史进行了深入的研究。声调方面则用大量的语料讨论了客家方言最重要的特点“浊上读阴平”问题以及古去声次浊声母字、古入声次浊声母字根据古声母的清浊有规律地分化为两类的现象。论文最后讨论了“乳汁、嘴、择”等字在客家方言中的特殊读音，考证其来历。在研究过程中，注意客家方言内部之间的比较，客家方言与其它方言的比较，方言与少数民族语言的比较，方言与汉语的历史相比较。...
